In April 2016, a light sport airplane impacted while on approach for landing at Bay Bridge Airport. The aircraft cartwheeled about 75 feet before coming to rest. A postimpact fire consumed the fuselage before it was extinguished by emergency responders.
RTI was on scene working with NTSB to document the crash site with the use of drones. The photos and videos became critical to identifying the multiple impact points in tall grass.
