RTI Marine Director Steve Cameron Interviewed in Lloyd's List Article: "Under the Microscope"
10.13.2011

Rapid advances in the maritime sector can create challenges for recruiting experienced crew and providing proper training.  Roger Hailey of global shipping industry publication, Lloyd's List, interviews RTI's Steve Cameron about casualty investigation technologies and techniques.

In the article, Cameron explains how RTI uses its forensic laboratory and animation studio to identify and illustrate the causes of marine accidents.  In one grounding case, RTI's analysis and simulation revealed what happened.  Cameron stated:

“We were able to show exactly that the master was where he thought it was, but that the seabed was not as charted.  He was still too close to the shore but we were able to demonstrate why the accident happened.  It cut two weeks off the court time, which is quite a significant cost-saving.”
